The TLC is expanding the Taxi Improvement Fund (TIF) owner payments as described below.
Hack-Up Payment Changes
All medallions, regardless if the medallion is required to hack-up a wheelchair accessible vehicle, are now eligible to receive hack-up payments when placing wheelchair accessible vehicles into service. To meet the new eligibility requirements, owners must:
The new eligibility requirement applies to hack-ups on or after January 1, 2019.
Operational Payment Changes
Operational payments, formerly referred to as "maintenance" or "inspection" payments, are no longer limited to a maximum four-year term. Owners will now receive operational payments so long as the wheelchair accessible vehicle remains in service.
Additionally, TLC is increasing the frequency of these payments from three payments each year to one payment every quarter. To meet the new eligibility requirements, owner must:
