Our favorite time of year is upon us! Join us as we celebrate the 35th Anniversary of our time honored procession through the streets of El Barrio. Spirit and joy abound as we parade with camels, music, colorful puppets, dancing, and parrandas on this magical day. The parade route begins at 106th St. and Madison Ave. and ends at 115th St and Park Ave.

School Groups, Community Organizations, and families are encouraged to participate. Early registration is strongly suggested.

El Museo del Barrio hosts the annual Three Kings Day Parade and Celebration—by far the largest and longest running Three Kings Day celebration in the City. It’s also one of the only New York City parades populated almost entirely by children! Paraders will join camels, sheep, a donkey, colorful puppets, brightly dressed community leaders posing as the Three Kings and thousands of spectators for a festive day replete with music and gift giveaways.

The Winter Antiques Show marks its 58th year as the most prestigious antiques show in America featuring the “best of the best” from antiquities through the 1960s. Held at the historic Park Avenue Armory in New York City, the Show provides curators, established collectors, dealers, design professionals and first time buyers with opportunities to view and purchase exceptional pieces showcased by 75 exhibitors. One-third of the Show's exhibitors are specialists in Americana, with the rest featuring English, European, and Asian fine and decorative arts.

From ancient Roman glass through mid-century Modern, every object exhibited at the Winter Antiques Show is vetted for authenticity, date, and condition by a committee of 160 experts from the United States and Europe. The strict vetting regulations and the vettors' expertise ensure that buyers can purchase with confidence.

The Winter Antiques Show is an annual benefit for East Side House Settlement, a community resource in the South Bronx. East Side House's programs focus on education and technology as gateways out of poverty and as the keys to economic opportunity. All revenues from the show's general admissions and the net proceeds from the preview parties and other events go to East Side House and contribute substantially to its private philanthropic budget. No part of sales made by exhibitors is received by East Side House.

CHINESE LUNAR NEW YEAR PARADE & FESTIVAL CHINATOWN

Want to see a dragon dance? Then don’t miss Chinatown’s Lunar New Year Parade & Festival, one of the City’s most beloved cultural celebrations. To ring in the Lunar New Year, dazzling dragon troupes wend their way through the streets of Chinatown. The family friendly parade draws crowds of hundreds of thousands who come to watch thousands of participants, elaborate floats, marching bands, martial artists, Asian musicians, magicians, acrobats and processions by local organizations.

Besides Beijing, there’s perhaps no better place to celebrate the Chinese New Year than New York City. The celebration encompasses several days of free events including the Firecracker Ceremony and Cultural Festival (firecrackers are detonated to ward off evil spirits), the Lunar New Year Flower Market and the Lunar New Year Parade & Festival.

Chinatown Lunar New Year Parade & Festival

Location: Starts at Little Italy and goes through the main streets of Lower Manhattan/Chinatown (Mott, Canal, Bowery, Chatham Square, East Broadway, Eldridge, Hester, Forsyth & Grand St.) and ends at the Lower East Side on Grand St by Sara Roosevelt Park.

Cultural Festival & Booth: Sara Roosevelt Park (Canal & Forsyth St). One block from major subway system, next to Manhattan Bridge, close by Brooklyn Bridge & Holland Tunnel and nearby all out of town buses, and surrounded by major market place.

Background: The Chinatown Lunar New Year Parade & New Year's Day Firecracker Ceremony was founded in 1999 to provide New York's Chinese American community with a large scale celebration on par with those in San Francisco and Los Angeles. In recent years it has surpassed it. The event has grown into a New York City wide affair and New York's biggest winter tourist attraction luring thousands of visitors from all over the United States and the world.

With the dog parade 5 years ago and the Pig race 4 years ago, 2 colorful floats, 20 antique cars, 200 cultural performers & 3000 marchers participate making the parade more exciting. Last year, a record 500,000 spectators flooded the streets of Chinatown to welcome the year of the Rabbit. A truly pan-Asian spectacle, the Parade features cultural performers and organizations from all across Asia, including China, Korea, Japan, Vietnam, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore and Hispanic & American dancer, bands and cultural floats.

Description: A colorful spectacle featuring floats, marching bands, lion and dragon dancers, antique cars, beauty queens, Asian & Hispanic musical performers, magicians and acrobats, and local organizations.

The floats will feature various cultural performances and special guests. Over 6,000 individuals will march in the Parade which will span every major street in Chinatown. This is the biggest winter parade in the East Coast and a national and international tourist attraction.

Elected officials, celebrities and community leaders are scheduled to take part in the Parade which will be covered by local, national and international media. An outdoor cultural festival will take place at the Sara Roosevelt Park by Canal St & Forsyth St. that will feature booths and performances by musicians, dancers, and martial artists.

To celebrate our 13th year we have plans for more exciting cultural and artistic entertainment with major cultural troupes from China and a 1st time food court.

This year, on January 28, 2012, if weather requires, we will operate out of a school space which holds 2,000 people for our booths and special performances.
