INFORMATION FOR MEDALLION OWNERS WHO HAVE DDS TPEP SYSTEMS

Industry Notice #10-20 • October 15, 2010

The New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) and DDS (DDS Wireless International, lnc.) have agreed not to renew DDS' contract to provide the TPEP (Taxi Passenger Enhancements Program) systems in use in New York City taxicabs. DDS is one of three companies currently authorized to provide the TPEP systems, and has systems installed in approximately 1,100 taxicabs.

DDS is contractually obligated to service and maintain its systems for up to one year after its contract ends, and the TLC and DDS will work together to ensure a smooth transition for drivers and medallion owners to the systems of one or both of the other TPEP service providers. The TLC is developing a transition plan for those medallion owners who have DDS TPEP systems installed in their vehicles, and will provide further updates by the end of the year.
