TLC EXPANDING CREDIT CARD OPTIONS

AMERICAN EXPRESS & DISCOVER NOW ACCEPTED
FOR ALL FINES & FEES

The New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission has expanded the payment options available to its applicants and licensees. Effective immediately, the New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission will now accept both American Express and Discover credit cards at each of its facilities, including the Staten Island Office, for the payment of all fines and fees. This is in addition to MasterCard and VISA which are already being accepted at our locations.

You may now use your American Express and Discover card for the payment of all fines and fees inclusive of application, fingerprint and re-inspection fees. Note that all TLC fees remain non-refundable.

The person whose name appears on the front of the card must be present for the transaction to take place and the card must be properly signed.


UPDATE: VEHICLE REPLACEMENT EXTENSION
FOR CERTAIN MEDALLION TAXICABS

The New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) announced that the owners of medallion taxicabs that are still in service, but were scheduled for replacement from October 1, 2008, to February 19, 2009, may remain in service until February 20, 2009. A previous extension allowed vehicles an extension on vehicle replacement until January 20, 2009.

Vehicles that were scheduled for replacement from October 1 to January 19, 2008, must be presented at the TLC's Woodside Safety & Emissions facility for an initial Safety & Emissions vehicle inspection between January 19, 2008 and January 31, 2008 between the hours of 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. If the vehicle passes inspection, it will receive an inspection sticker valid through February 28, 2009.

Vehicles that are scheduled for replacement from January 20, 2009, to February 20, 2009, must be presented at the TLC's Woodside Safety & Emissions facility for their regularly scheduled Safety & Emissions vehicle inspection. If the vehicle passes inspection, it will receive an inspection sticker valid through February 28, 2009.

ROAD CLOSURE NEAR PORT AUTHORITY BUS TERMINAL

Beginning on February 17, 2009 there will be one lane closed outside the Port Authority Bus Terminal. There will be sidewalk and road construction. The work will take place in two (2) parts:

  1. One lane of 8th Avenue will be closed between 42nd and 41st Street (outside the north building). The lane is expected to be closed for approximately two (2) months. You will need to pick up passengers at the south building between 40th and 41st streets during this time.


  2. One lane of 8th Avenue will be closed between 40th and 41st Street (outside the south building). The lane is expected to be closed for approximately two (2) months. You will need to pick up passengers at the north building between 41st and 42nd streets during this time.


The total construction time is expected to take four (4) months.
