2007 TLPA MEETINGS

2007 TLPA President Brian Wier has announced the dates and locations of the three main TLPA meetings scheduled for 2007.

TLPA Spring Conference & Exhibition

When asked what comes to mind when thinking about Baltimore, the most popular answers might be “Maryland Crab Cakes” and “The Oriole’s”. Certainly, those are reasons enough to visit this wonderfully unique city, but there are so many more: great restaurants, a beautiful harbor, a plethora of history and TLPA’s Spring Conference & Exposition.

President Wier and TLPA host operator, Mark Joseph, invite TLPA members and those operators interested in learning more about TLPA to enjoy an enriched educational experience at TLPA’s Spring Conference & Exposition in Baltimore, Maryland, May 3-6, 2007.

The conference will be held at the Sheraton Inner Harbor Hotel in the heart of the city. Stroll the waterfront, have your fill of fresh steamed Maryland crabs, or meander through the interesting shops in the Harbor Pavilions.

Baltimore is definitely a destination to bring the whole family. Some of Baltimore’s top attractions line the Inner Harbor including the National Aquarium in Baltimore, the Maryland Science Center and the USS Constellation. For a change of pace, hop the water taxi to Fells Point or Little Italy for fabulous restaurants tucked away on cobblestone streets.

The TLPA General Session speakers are well known industry leaders who will provide attendees valuable tools and insights in an incomparable learning experience. Then, the always popular breakout sessions allow attendees to visit the operating division topics that interest them to discuss unique issues.

Some of the meeting highlights will be the three open steering committees meetings that address legislative and regulatory issues, review training materials and choose topics for the TLPA Annual Convention roundtables and breakout sessions.

The Spring Conference allows for a more intimate setting than does the TLPA Annual Convention, which in turn enables exhibitors to focus on attendees in a more relaxed atmosphere. The exhibit will feature tabletop exhibits and floor exhibits from vendors eager to show all operators new ways that they can help you build your business.

Make your plans to spend a few prosperous days this spring with TLPA in Baltimore.

TLPA Mid-Year Conference

Only 600 miles off the Carolina coast, the diminutive island sanctuary known as Bermuda is a quiet, secluded paradise and the destination for the TLPA Mid-Year Conference.

First settled in the early 1600s, Bermuda still retains the character of a British colony, especially in the harbor town of Hamilton. A wonderful get away spot any time of the year, the island’s mild sub-tropical climate seldom allows extreme temperatures. And while July will be warm, you’ll enjoy the cool sea breezes that permeate the island.

President Wier invites TLPA members to mix business with pleasure at TLPA’s Mid-Year Conference this July 25-29 in Hamilton, Bermuda at the Fairmont Princess Hotel. TLPA’s program is designed to help operators stay current on industry developments and network with peers, while enjoying the sun and resort activities in Bermuda.

The island’s ideal climate means there are dozens of ways to play, including the exhilaration of catching the “big one” in the Atlantic, the joy of riding horseback along sandy dunes, or participating in a spirited regatta in The Great Sound.

Overlooking the harbor in Hamilton, the Fairmont Princess is a five minute walk to the island’s downtown restaurant and shopping area.

The hotel (dubbed the “Pink Palace” by locals) is a stately resort that has preserved the old world traditions of courtesy, timeless quality and genuine hospitality since it’s opening in 1885. The attire for the conference is business casual/casual sport & beach. Please leave all ties at home.

TLPA’s 89th Annual Convention & Trade Show

Name a city that boasts nationally recognized chefs, exciting nightlife, and endless shopping, history, and culture, PLUS 300 days of sunshine per year? It’s Denver-the site of the TLPA 2007 Annual Convention & Trade Show.

Mark the time period, October 8-12, 2007 on your calendar and plan to be at the Hyatt Regency Denver and the Colorado Convention Center in Denver.

President Wier invites taxicab, limousine, executive sedan, paratransit, airport shuttle and non-emergency medical transportation operators from the world over to attend the most comprehensive meeting anywhere for owners and operators in the transportation industry.

The TLPA Annual Convention not only provides workshops and discussions on what operators need to know, but it also brings together industry leaders whose knowledge and experience one can tap into for the benefit of your business.

The Trade Show will be held in the expansive Colorado Convention Center directly across the street from the Hyatt. The TLPA Trade Show is the showcase for the latest in technology and service for ground transportation businesses. The grand opening of the Trade Show will be held on Tuesday evening from 5:15 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.

On Wednesday the exhibit hall will be open from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m. with lunch being served early and an open bar served later in the afternoon.

On Thursday, the exhibit hall will be open from noon to 3:30 p.m. with lunch being served early and prize drawings being held later in the afternoon.

The Annual TLPF Golf Tournament to will be held on Monday, October 8, with departure from the Hyatt Regency at 12:30 p.m., and a shotgun tee off at 2:00 p.m.

An awards ceremony will include dinner, drinks, and drawings for door prizes, which will conclude the event.

The annual Women In Transportation Dinner will be held on Tuesday evening, October 9. This event is a social/problem solving event where female operators, spouses, vendors and lots and lots of males attend. It is held on the first night of the convention to help build relationships early in the convention.

This event was originally meant as a social icebreaker for women operators new to the convention and has grown into a social icebreaker for everyone new to the convention.

The Closing Night Banquet will be held on Thursday evening, October 11. The fun filled night features an open bar, a great meal, entertainment and the silent auction to benefit TLPA’s legislative arm, the TLPA Action Fund.

Everyone knows the Mile High City has breathtaking views of the Rocky Mountains, but the nation’s tenth largest downtown has something for everyone. In the center of the city (and near the Hyatt Regency) is a 9 mile pedestrian promenade lined with shops, restaurants and brewpubs.

Speaking of brewpubs, Denver brews more beer than any other city, registering 80 different varieties for attendees to sample.

You need to schedule an evening to explore one of the surrounding neighborhoods like Lower Downtown (commonly referred to as “LoDo”). Filled with sports bars, jazz clubs and restaurants, LoDo’s restored Victorian buildings provide the background for the new “place to be”.

No matter what time of year, sports fans can find a game to attend between the seven professional sports teams that call Denver “home”. The Denver Art Museum and Performing Arts Complex are world class.

The city is quickly gaining a reputation for young, innovative chefs who dabble in serving unique native dishes like buffalo burgers and rattlesnake tails along with the more traditional T-bone steak!

Mark your calendars now to attend TLPA’s 89th Annual Convention & Trade Show.
