TLPA MID-YEAR CONFERENCE IN HAMILTON, BERMUDA

The
TLPA Mid-Year Conference will be held in Bermuda. The meeting is being
held at the Fairmont Princess Hamilton Hotel.
President
Brian Wier invites TLPA members and those interested in finding out
more about TLPA to mix business with pleasure at TLPA's Mid-Year Conference
this July 25-29. The Mid-Year Conference will feature discussions and
policy setting actions on legislation and regulatory issues of concern
to our industry.
The
Mid-Year educational program is designed to help members stay current
on industry developments and network with their peers while enjoying
the sun & resort activities in Bermuda.
The
island's ideal climate means there are dozens of ways to play.
One can discover the exhilaration of catching the "big one"
in the Atlantic and the joy of riding horseback along sandy dunes, or
a spirited regatta in The Great Sound.
Only
600 miles off the Carolina coast, the diminutive island sanctuary known
as Bermuda, is a quiet, secluded paradise and our destination for the
TLPA Mid-Year Conference.
First
settled in the early 1600s, Bermuda still retains the character of a
British colony, especially in the harbor town of Hamilton. A wonderful
get away spot any time of the year, the island's mild sub-tropical climate
seldom allows extreme temperatures. And while July will be warm, you'll
enjoy the cool sea breezes that permeate the island.
Overlooking
the harbor in Hamilton, the Fairmont Princess is a 5 minute walk to
the island's downtown restaurant and shopping area. The hotel (dubbed
the "Pink Palace" by locals) is a stately resort that has
preserved the old world traditions of courtesy, timeless quality and
genuine hospitality since it's opening in 1885.
The
first 50 conference registrants who also register for the catamaran
cruise will board the beautifully appointed 55 ft. luxury catamaran,
"Aristocat" from the Princess Dock at 12:15 p.m. Friday afternoon
July 27. For a total of three hours onboard, members will sail away
to the northernmost coral reef paradise in the world - snorkel, enjoy
lunch, drinks and good friends.
The
day will begin as we relax on deck and enjoy soft drinks while the crew
provides an informative commentary on the island and the fascinating
undersea ecosystem. After an approximately 45 minute cruise, the boat
will be moored in a magical deep blue oasis bordered by fringe reef
on nearly all sides. Attendees can swim and snorkel in the crystal clear
waters and explore the great expanses of the pristine reef.

Following
the snorkeling, attendees will enjoy a relaxing sail home with a buffet
lunch and open bar that includes Bermuda's legendary Rum Swizzle.
Attire
for the conference is business casual/casual sport & beach. Please
leave your ties in your closet. You may want a jacket or wrap in the
evenings because there is nearly always a cool breeze at night (however
a jacket is not required).
The
Gulf Stream, which flows between Bermuda and the North American continent,
keeps the climate temperate - not too hot, and not too cold. Don't forget
your hat, sunglasses and sunscreen.
This
landmark hotel is 30 minutes from the airport. Approximate taxi fare
is $30. Don't forget your passport. Passports are required to enter
any international country (including Bermuda).

Outside
of the resort attendees will enjoy exploring the historic streets of
the capitol city with its many galleries and museums, cruising in a
glass bottom boat at the Aquarium and Underwater Exploration Institute,
or finding a quiet spot to enjoy the spectacular blazing sunsets.
