2. Wheelchair Passenger Assistance TrainingAll applicants must complete the Wheelchair Passenger Assistance Training. The school will notify the TLC when you have completed the course. |
3. TLC Driver Education CourseThe course is available in languages other than English. Click here for a complete list of TLC- approved schools and the languages each offers.You must file an application with the TLC before registering for the exam. You will not be allowed to take the exam if you do not submit an application to the TLC. You must take and pass the final exam on a computer with a score of 70% or higher at the same school the course was taken. This means you must answer 56 out of 80 questions correctly in order to pass. You will be allowed to take the exam as many times as needed to pass during the ninety (90) day application period. The school will notify the TLC when you have completed the course and passed the final exam.

TLC Driver License applicants must complete the Passenger Assistance and Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle Training in order to get a license. It is recommended that new applicants complete this training before taking the TLC Driver Exam.
Existing drivers who have not already completed the Passenger Assistance and Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle Training must complete the training in order to renew their TLC Driver Licenses.
The organizations on this list are currently authorized by TLC to provide Passenger Assistance and Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle Training. Please choose from among the providers and contact them directly for training services. A map, along with list of providers is also available on NYC OpenData.
TLC Driver License applicants must complete a 24 Hour TLC Driver Education Course and pass an 80 question multiple choice exam on a computer with a grade of 70% or higher. You must answer 56 out of 80 questions correctly in order to pass. The course covers the following topics: TLC rules and regulations, Vision Zero, geography, safe driving skills and traffic rules, and customer service.
TLC Authorized Education Providers offer the 24 Hour Driver Education Course and the TLC Driver Exam. The chart below shows the percentages of TLC Driver License applicants who passed the exam on their first try in the language they chose.
